Buchrückseite

SOFTWARE IN 30 DAYS A Radical Approach to Fast, Valuable, and Low-Risk Software Development Software development doesn't have to be slow and expensive anymore. The Agile and Scrum software development method allows creation of the game-changing software you need to grow your business-in 30 days or less. Projects that use it are three times more successful than those that don't, and the productivity gain versus traditional "waterfall" methods has been over 100 percent on many projects. For the business manager, the entrepreneur, or IT manager, Software in 30 Days explains how this unorthodox process works, how to get started, and how to succeed. Learn powerful concepts such as the "art of the possible," "bottom-up intelligence," and why it's good to fail early. With simple but profound shifts in thinking, you will be able to control risk, manage projects, and deliver your best work possible, faster and cheaper than ever before.

I was looking for a standard text book for Scrum to prepare for a certification and acquired good bais knowledge and understanding from that book

... that often starts the first spark to this great way of getting things flying! A must read book for everybody in the industry.

This book is a great compilation of Ken's and Jeff's experiences and insights helping businesses to become agile. Being a trainer with Scrum.org for a few of years and having worked with Ken, I had the benefit of becoming immersed in the topic and the content of the book first hand. However, if you are curious about Scrum and didn't get the chance to meet Ken or Jeff personally yet, this book is for you. It is a condensed easy to read introduction to Scrum from the Scrum inventors point of view. Starting with the history of Scrum, providing ideas of how to kick off your first Scrum project to scaling Scrum into the enterprise, and how to anchor it in your company's culture. 'Software in 30 Days' is full of real life examples. A must read for any person and any job title involved with software development.

The book doesn't go into so many details but give enough insight on the topic. The book is well structured and very clear to understand even for those who never worked with agile methodology before. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn about the subject especially for developers, analysts and project managers. They will learn a great deal about the methodology's basics and about the complete Agile development process.

This book explains to the point what Scrum can and cannot do for you and your company. It stays on the management level, gives some examples and case studies, and provides an overview on Scrum introductions into companies. It's easy to read and understand. If you are planning to introduce Scrum into your company (or want to find out if this is a valid option), read this book first. I definitely recommend it!
